S. Grey Folkes, Jr., PE is a 1977 graduate of Clemson University with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. He received his Professional Engineering license in 1982. He has been an esteemed business leader in the Hampton Roads area since 1984 when he purchased his father’s company, Hassell & Folkes, PC. Through these business relationships, his investing interests and opportunities expanded into commercial property development, shopping center ownerships, self-storage facilities, hotels, apartment complexes, residential home building, C&D landfill, restaurants, outdoor recreation equipment supplier, indoor shooting range, private yacht, and aviation charters.

Grey has served on the boards of Old Dominion Athletics, Eastern Virginia Medical School, Boy Scouts of America, Chesapeake Chamber of Commerce, State of Virginia Transportation Board, Towne Bank Chesapeake (founding member).
